What is MCSA and what do we do?

MCSA provides temporary shelter, basic health care, educational and vocational support services for those in need in Muscatine County while working to reduce these needs through long-term social change in the community.

Our goals are to: 

  • provide a clean, attractive safe and secure temporary home for people in need in order for them to have the time and place to rebuild their lives.

  • provide basic, unmet health care servies and health education for people in need.

  • offer support, direction, education, job training and counseling to have each individual develop life skills needed to move back into society as productive citizens.

  • help people in accessing other needed community resources to assist them in their immediate needs and to support them in longer term goals.

"When I moved into MCSA with my son, I didn't have anything.  No job... nothing.  ... I was just told that I have a job and that I'll be starting next week.  Just like a rocket roars, that represents how I am now soaring to the top."

"If MCSA hadn't been here, I probably would have lived on the street.  My dad died and my brother committed suicide.  I have no family.  This place (MCSA) is a matter of life or death."

"Living at MCSA I learn proper procedures, how to succeed at work, goals for life.  MCSA  is giving me proper steps to get on my own."
